I started this blog to share my pregnancy with those closest to me that I never really get to see & wish I could. Now that Harper is here, I've just decided to continue it & share a little of our family with everyone.

Please someone tell me Harper isn't already two months today?!!?

Here are some pictures of her with her first with us the first time we got to hold her in the hospital, then with all her cousins.

A Month? Already?

My...how time really does fly by. I cannot believe Harper was a month old yesterday - it doesn't seem possible that she's already been here that long! Yesterday also marked the occurence of graduation from newborn-size diapers to size-one diapers. Not only that but she also outgrew her newborn-size clothes {and she didn't even get to wear all of them - imagine that!}. Crazy how both those things seemed to have occured on the same day!! The even more amazing part is that she ALSO started smiling yesterday!!! Justin & I were getting her dressed yesterday morning and playing with her a bit & I mentioned to him that she was smiling and that I didn't think it was gas-related finally....and I told Andrea & Matt at dinner last night that I thought she had smiled but I just wasn't for sure. But when we got home last night she just kept smiling - and it was the sweetest thing in the world! So yesterday was a very big day for us - well, for Harper anyway. I think she might be starting to wonder if I have two faces ~ one with a camera lens attached...

HARPER RYNE!

HARPER RYNE JERNIGAN
February 29, 2008
6:04 a.m.
7 lbs. 3 oz.

I know, I am ridiculously slow!! But it has been an adventurous three weeks, to say the least ~ and I'm back now to keep you all updated as she grows!

As for the labor ~ my water broke on Thursday night {the 28th} right at 11 p.m. We got to the hospital right at midnight, and our baby girl came into the world 6 hours later. Leave it to me to have my baby on my actual due date ~ and of course it had to be a day that only comes every four years!

For those of you who do not already know, Harper aspirated on meconium during the delivery & was sent directly to the NICU, where she stayed until the following Thursday. That Thursday night I got to stay in a room with her {Justin was VERY sick & couldn't stay with us} & brought her home the next day. I really can't believe we've already been home two weeks ~ time is flying by! And I am absolutely dreading my return to work {unless any of you would be willing to make our mortgage for us every month! haha!}. But I'm planning on enjoying all the time I have with her until then & not thinking about going back.

Keep coming back & I'll try to keep pictures up as often as possible. I may be quite partial, but the pictures really don't do her justice ~ she is amazing!

My love to all of you ~ hope you all have a wonderful Easter.

Any Day Now....

Only ten days left until the "due" date ~ but I have said for probably six months now that I think she will be here the 21st, which is this Thursday ~ so we'll see. My anxiety has the best of me, though, and I'm tired of waiting. I still love being pregnant ~ feeling her getting bigger every single day has just been amazing. But I'm ready for her to be here and to see her!
Obviously from the photo I had another ultrasound ~ I went to the doctor Friday {the 15th} for my weekly checkup. The doctor was a little concerned because I had lost 1/2 a pound and my fundal height was the exact same as it had been the previous week, so he wanted to do an ultrasound to make sure Harper was still growing and that I had not lost any fluid. Fortunately everything checked out and she & her surroundings looked wonderful, so that was a huge relief. The picture I got of her is not all that great ~ but you can see her right eye really well {you may have to tilt your head to the right a little bit if you can't make it out}. The weird thing is how strange baby's noses look in an ultrasound the further you get along!! The ultrasounds make them look like little pig snouts, but I promise you it does not really look that funny! But we were able to see her eyelashes!! And she has some hair ~ not a whole lot, but some ~ just seeing it on there was amazing.
I promise we will do our best to let all of you know as soon as we can when she gets here. Okay, I will not personally be calling you, but someone will! Just keep us in your prayers ~ we definitely appreciate all of them.

Some Non-Neud Belly Pictures!

Well, I am at 33 weeks now ~ and up 17 pounds so far. I am tired of people asking me "are you miserable yet?" ~ what a sad way of saying something! Miserable is an awfully harsh way of putting it I think. I will admit that today I realized how "uncomfortable" I am ~ but I wouldn't say miserable. Harper is definitely crowding my ribs ~ and digging her little feet in them as much as possible it seems, but it is still such a wonderful experience to me.
Anyway, I love you all!!
